I can’t say enough good things about my experience at Fountain Hills Recovery! From day one, the staff made me feel welcomed, supported, and truly cared for. The therapists, group facilitators, case managers, and housing staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helped me develop coping skills that I use every day. My start there was a little rocky, but the staff helped me walk through my “dramatics”, for lack of a better word, and showed me so much patience and compassion. They gave me the room to come to my own conclusions, but gave exceptional guidance along the way.
The structure of the PHP was exactly what I needed—intensive therapy during the day while still allowing me to go to the provided housing in the evenings to practice what I was learning. The group sessions were insightful, and I found a strong sense of community among the other patients.
Thanks to this program, I’ve gained a new perspective on my mental health and recovery. I feel more confident in managing my emotions and staying on the right path. If you’re considering PHP, I highly recommend Fountain Hills Recovery—it was truly life-changing! I will be forever grateful for my time there and owe the beginning of my recovery to them. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything!
I am so, so grateful I chose Fountain Hills Recovery as the place to trust for my treatment. Having never been to any kind of treatment facility before, I was essentially at the mercy of referrals from others and what information I could find online. When I timidly called to inquire about FHR, Sandy instantly made me feel comfortable and at ease (as much as one could in such a vulnerable and fragile state), answered all of my questions, and didn't put pressure on me while I tried to navigate the uncertainty and fear of such a new/somewhat scary step/process.
Everyone is different and comes to treatment at their own unique place in their life/journey/struggles, but yet share commonalities that are all too familiar to many when it comes to substance abuse, addiction, and mental health. The staff at FHR do a wonderful job of addressing the unique needs and challenges of their clients, providing individualized care and support, while also allowing you to see that you're not alone - you're not broken, and you're not a failure. Rather, you're strong, capable, and resilient - and ultimately, you're on the right track.
The program structure allows for individualized therapy as well as a lot of group therapy time. You get one-on-one time with your own therapist regularly (unlike some bigger named places that require you to request to be scheduled), a psychiatrist (who in my experience, wasn't looking to just load me up with meds), and several other counselors through a variety of group sessions throughout the week. They structure the weekdays well so that it doesn't feel like it drags on, giving hourly and lunch breaks to make the pacing manageable and allow you to have the mental energy be present in sessions. You go to meetings and the gym (optional) multiple days a week, as well as equine therapy when the weather permits. They also have a chiropractor available 2x/week and yoga 1x/week, if you want to participate.
The weekends are still structured, but you get to enjoy activities (things like top golf, pottery, bowling - your group can decide/find things of interest) and a weekend bbq. Church is available as well for those who are interested. While the program is structured, it also allows flexibility/choice in things such as weekend activities, which type of meetings (AA, CA, NA, Dharma, etc.) you want to attend, and more, food/snacks you want at the house (they kinda spoil you with snack requests - I was not expecting that). Also, the housing is nice - Google images are pretty accurate.
All of this to say that recovery is NOT easy. It's not comfortable. There is undoubtedly a lot of negative emotions, struggles, and frustrating moments through the process. Those emotions and challenges are going to exist at any treatment facility when you're battling something that wasn't solvable on your own. There will be days or moments or conversations or activities that trigger a deep resistance or you feel like it's all stupid and shut down, or maybe even lash out. I've seen it - I've done it. But it isn't a reflection of FHR, but rather, a part of the healing process that is bound to occur in recovery. It's on the other end of that where the growth occurs. The FHR team helped me to identify my own personal triggers, as well as so many positive coping skills that were realistic for me to apply in real world situations.
As I write this, I can confidently say I'm in the best best best headspace of my entire life. I have so much love for myself and optimism for the future, and I'm able to show up for myself and for others in ways I truly didn't think was possible. I have an authentic excitement for life and I see it as worth living.
I know this is long, but as a faint-hearted someone who found FHR just by Google, I know I wanted as much insight into the experience as real people would give me. At the end of the day, if you go in with an open mind and heart, show up, be present, and participate, you're going to come out the other side stronger and a better you. And you'll probably have some fun too (and eat great snacks).
My daughter came to Fountain Hills recovery center to seek treatment for her depression, OCD /ADHD , which caused her to become a non -functioning young adult. Sleeping most of the day and dropping her college classes one after another , which caused us a lot of distress and sadness about seeing our daughter mental ability deteriorating in front of our eyes and we couldn’t do anything. Finally and for the first time ever she asked us for help. We inquired about where to send her to, and we heard about Fountain Hills recovery center from a friend of ours. I called Sandy who was very helpful, gracious and she explained to us the admittance process and the type of treatments they offer . From my conversation with Sandy I trusted that this program could be a good fit for our daughter. We brought our daughter to the house on Dale Ave 5 weeks ago, and she stayed there for one month and now she moved to the all girls house.
From our experience so far I can tell you that we couldn’t have chosen any better place for my daughter to stay at than Fountain Hills. She is turning her life around a great deal. I haven’t seen her this joyful for a long time, the way how she talks has even changed and in a positive way. She tells me that they have the best staff and she loves everyone over there. Dr Robbie, Dr. Abraham, Page (who communicated with me many times to give us updates about our daughter), her therapist Jenny (we communicated with Jenny several timescand she was very helpful and encouraging ) and now Krista in the 2nd home are all doing amazing job.
My daughter underwent TMS treatment, 1:1 therapy session, group sessions and many other interventions techniques and is on the right medications that are helping her tremendously. She still has 3 more weeks to go and she has improved in a way we couldn’t dream of. We are finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, and have some hope that our daughter’s life started to take a turn to the better.
I can tell you that this center is the best you can get in Arizona, they are genuinely trying to make a difference in the lives of people who seek treatment for mental disorders, addictions or for both, and they are truly making a difference. We thank God for all the wonderful staff!
Also not allowing the use of personal phones for 2 weeks initially is great, since my daughter got to isolate herself from the outside world which is full of distractions and got to focus on herself. One last thing to add is that the therapists and psychiatrist won’t brainwash your child, something that is very important to us as parents . I give Fountain Hills Recovery 10/10, and I recommend it for any parent who are reaching a dead end with their children or with a family member, believe me there is hope and is within your reach don’t wait too long!
Fountain Hills is first class! The clinicians and management care about their clients and work hard to communicate with the families. Going into recovery comes with all kinds of challenges that I knew nothing about and they help families and their clients navigate these bumpy waters. I’m so grateful for the first loving and caring interaction through the months that followed. I would highly recommend this team to help someone you care about.
My son had 2 stays with Fountain Hills in this past year. I have to say, I believe this is the best inpatient program in Arizona. I’m eternally grateful for the staff facilitating my son’s sober journey. Fountain Hills Recovery knows what really heals people…connection, relationship and truth.
